Strong Swimmers Confident Kids

In Y Swim Lessons, participants learn and practice new swimming skills and feel a sense of achievement from mastering something new that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. Children have a stronger bond with their parents and family members from the take home activities of family huddles and sharing boating safety tips. Parent/Child

30 min. class 6months -3 years

Stage A/B Water Discovery & Exploration

(previously shrimp)

Parents accompany infants and toddlers in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun while exploring the aquatic environment while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention and the importance of supervision and the. Students learn body position, blowing bubbles and floating.

Preschool

30 min. class Ages 3-5

Stage 1: Water Acclimation

Not with parent /student is not yet comfortable putting face in the water this skill as well as back floats and basic forward movement will be learned in this stage. Children will also be taught to enter and exit the pool safely as well as basic water safety skills.

Stage 2 & 3: Water Movement and Water Stamina

Not with parent/ student is starting to get comfortable with their face in the water/will go under water voluntarily .Students will work on body position direction change forward motion rhythmic breathing and stamina as well as safety in the water.

Stage: 3 & 4 Water Stamina and Stroke Introduction

Not with parent/Student must be able to do a front and back float on their own and be able to swim short distance with one light bubble or no bubble at all. Students will continue to work on endurance rhythmic breathing while being introduce to front and back crawl, as well as breast stroke kick and butterfly kick .Students will also continue safety skills in and around water.

 

Youth

30.min Class 6-13 years

Youth: 1&2/Water Acclimation and Water Movement

Students will learn to put their face in the water, and roll from to back to front and work on body position in the water directional change and forward movement. Student is still working on water safety, wearing floatation.

Youth: 3 Water Stamina

Swimmers learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance. Rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action are introduced:.

Youth: 3&4/Water Stamina and Stroke introduction

Must be able to swim15-20 yards comfortable on his or her front and back without floatation. Students develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn breast stroke and butterfly kick. Students will continue to work on water safety.

Youth 4&5/Stroke Introduction and Stroke Development

Students must be able to do 50 yards comfortably of front and back crawl without floatation. Students will learn stroke technique on all competitive swim strokes and water safety continues through side elementary back and treading water.

Youth: 5&6/ Stroke Development and Stroke Mechanics

Student must be familiar with Front crawl, Back crawl, Breast stroke and butterfly as well as safety side stroke and be able to swim 25-50 yards of each. Students will learn about competitive swimming and how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.

 

Teen / Adult Lesson

Ages 13+

Classes are adjusted to the level of the swimmers. If you have never been comfortable in the water, we can help you overcome that fear.Or,if you want to learn how to swim this is the class for you. Class size is kept to a minimum.

 

Adaptive Lessons

Students of all ages will work on comfort in the water and water safety. All classes are geared towards student’s specific needs and goals.
