Welcome to The Big Cheese 5K!

The humble beginnings in 2010 as an addition to the River Rat festivities have blossomed into an incredibly huge event that has increased to nearly 500 runners annually.

The Big Cheese 5K is a blast! You’ll feel accomplished. And most importantly, you’ll know that you’ve done your part to help others in need. Our motto is: “We run for food and fun.” So whether you’re a hard core runner or a happy-go-lucky walker, please join us and bring a friend, or even the whole family (strollers welcome). And if you’re so inspired, feel free to wear a wacky costume. We love wacky costumes! So although we’ve raised serious cash — over $41,000 for the North Quabbin Food-a-thon and the Franklin County Meals-on-Wheels Program — we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

We hope you will join us to celebrate our little town and show community pride with two unique races, The Big Cheese 5K and the River Rat Race. We encourage you to enter both races and if you do, we will recognize you with special “Double Duty” status on race day.

The Y joined the planning team for the 2015 race and have been dedicated to this amazing event ever since.

Big Cheese/ Sole Mates Running club- meets every Thursday at Orange Innovation Center 131 W. Main St. Orange, MA at 6:00pm. All levels are encouraged to walk or run.
